Bok Tower and Gardens

For the scent of summer, you can't beat Bok Tower in Lake Wales, Florida. The mesh of scents in the air evidence of life in full bloom. Come prepared to sweat, but make time to sit beneath the shade of an old oak draped in Spanish moss. The sweet breeze moving through the boughs refreshes. Listen for the twitter of cardinals; the chirp of blue jays. Absorb the flight of a monarch butterfly. Escape the bound of filtered air and embrace the kiss of summer sun on your skin. Wear sunblock and open yourself to the possibility of an afternoon stroll.

Florida Natural by LaurieLee

It's summertime in Florida, which means hot. I'm used to sticking to the great indoors, cranking the air and swatting at any creepy crawly that tries to sneak its way into the cool. But maybe the great outdoors isn't as bad as I think it is. Maybe malls and movie theaters aren't my only choices of things to do.
So here I go, outside in the summer sun, to see what Florida has to offer in all its glory. Time to step away from the concrete jungle and discover Florida Natural, the LaurieLee way.
